2 Photos after Collision and Before Death .. AIR France Flight

One feels sad for all the passengers including the extraordinary photographer, who kept his cool even in his last moments of life and took this photo. Hats off to him!!!

Yesterday the world saw the disappearance of an A330 Air Frane during a trans Atlantic flight between Rio to Paris

Two shots taken inside the plane before it crashed. Unbelievable! Photos taken inside the GOL B 737 aircraft that was involved in a mid air collision and crashed…..

A B737 had a mid air collision with the Embraer Legacy while cruising at 35,000 feet over South America. The Embraer Legacy, though seriously damaged with the winglet ripped off, managed to make a landing at a nearby airstrip in the midst of the Amazon jungle. The crew and passengers of the Embraer Legacy had no idea what they had hit. The B737
however crashed, killing all crew and passengers on board.

The two photos attached were apparently taken by one of the passengers in the B737, just after the collision and before the aircraft crashed. The photos were retrieved from the camera’s memory stick. You will never get to see photos like this. In the first photo, there is a gaping hole in the fuselage through which you can see the tailplane and vertical fin of the aircraft. In the second photo, one of the passengers is being sucked out of the gaping hole.

These photos were found in a digital Casio Z750, amidst the remains in Serra do Cachimbo. Although the camera was destroyed, the Memory Stick was recovered. Investigating the serial number of the camera, the owner was identified as Paulo G. Muller, an actor of a theatre for children known in the outskirts of Porto Alegre. It can be imagined that he was standing during the impact with the Embraer Legacy and during the turbulence, he managed to take these photos, just seconds after the tail loss the aircraft plunged. So the camera was found near the cockpit.. The structural stress probably ripped the engines away, diminishing the falling speed, protecting the electronic equipment but not unfortunately the victims. Paulo Muller leaves behind two daughters, Bruna and Beatriz.

Transformers 2 : Revenge of the Fallen

We are long planning for this one and missing the chance to catch up on this one  will be devastating to say the least hehe.  By sheer luck my sis’ went down earlier on Monday’s evening to book tickets in advance and what a big relief knowing that she managed to secure good seats for this coming Saturday’s evening show.  That is $9 a piece but I still think that is a good price to pay for a real good movie and it better be a good one.

Tyre Size Calculator

Ever get into the trouble finding the right size and height profile when your original tyre has the odd height profile eg. 65% ?  Then this is a very useful tyre calculator which guides us to correct substitute particularly when we start changing the wheel diameter as well which then complicates further making the right call.   This is important to ensure ride height and gearing is maintained.  I guess this explains why I keep scrapping some speed hump despite going slow over it sometime.

The Difference between FOCUSING on PROBLEMS and FOCUSING on SOLUTIONS

I have read this forwarded email before but on 2nd thought this is still worthwhile to share again to others … maybe there is useful learning out of this .. rite

Case # 1: When NASA began the launch of astronauts into space, they found out
that the pens would not work at zero gravity (ink will not flow down to the
writing surface).

Solution # 1:To solve this problem, it took them one decade and $12 million.
They developed a pen that worked at zero gravity, upside down, underwater, in
practically any surface including crystal and in a temperature range from below
freezing to over 300 degrees C.

Solution # 2 : And what did the Russians do…?? They used a pencil.

Case # 2 :One of the most memorable case studies on Japanese management was the
case of the empty soapbox, which happened in one of Japan ’s biggest cosmetics
companies. The company received a complaint that a consumer had bought a soapbox
that was empty.
Immediately the authorities isolated the problem to the assembly Line, which
transported all the packaged boxes of soap to the delivery department. For some
reason, one soapbox went through the assembly line empty.
Management asked its engineers to solve the problem.

Solution # 1: Post-haste, the engineers worked hard to devise an X-ray machine
with high-resolution monitors manned by two people to watch all the soapboxes
that passed through the line to make sure they were not empty. No doubt, they
worked hard and they worked fast but they spent a whoopee amount to do so.

Solution # 2 : But when a rank-and-file employee in a small company was posed
with the same problem, he did not get into complications of X-rays, etc., but
instead came out with another solution.
He bought a strong industrial electric fan and pointed it at the assembly line.
He switched the fan on, and as each soapbox passed the fan, it simply blew the
empty boxes out of the line.

Moral
· Always look for simple solutions.
· Devise the simplest possible solution that solves the problems.
· Always focus on solutions & not on problems.

It’s School Holiday Again

Little that I realised today is the last day of school for the kids. So there goes the usual honey mooning session every Saturday’s morning with the spouse. When all the kids are at school you tend to forget their existence at least momentarily .. hehe. The time gap between the subsequent holidays are just getting less apparent these days and before you even get the time to think about it, it is another holiday again. That would also means that I have to re strategise the plan for weekend as well but on a positive note it will be more time with them which is kind of overdue already. I guess we will resume honey mooning after 3 weeks then .. ;)

So Little Time To Spare

Honestly, I was bogged down with so many stuff and probably too engrossed with facebook to start with .. hehe.  I have seen so many blogs sprouting around but after few months/years they are just left dying out like any drying fungi that will vanish pretty soon.  I will not be part of that statistics as yet, at least not for now.  I know maintaining the discipline is the hardest thing so I rather keep my blogging target dirt simple but achievable.  One post a week is not too much to ask but in reality if you start losing focus then it will get harder than you would thought so.

Last weekend was pretty quiet and our impromptu effort to catch on the movies was a futile one as well.  Lesson learnt and there is no such thing as a last minute urge for a movie especially during weekend.  Where else do you expect the Bruneian to likely spend their time if not at the eateries and the cineplex.  I still feel the “Transformer 2″ will be the one that we must not miss which is closer to the end of the month by the time school break is on the verge of wrapping up.  It would be also another opportunity to spend time with lil’ brother who was just back from his semester break.  BTW, if by chance that you have not seen the “Slumdog Millionaire”, then I suggest to better give it a go.  It really touches on our personal values and self reflection of the hardship that people like us fortunately are not able to experience in this part of the world.
